This morning, David and I noticed that blogger.com was down. It turns out that it had been taken down for a complete makeover.
It is really quite good, and I am having trouble not raving about it.
For instance, I got this little blog going in four minutes flat. Other good things:
All this brings to mind a friend, Jed Wesley-Smith. He has been posting interesting tid-bits to odd places for many years now. Jed, in the immortal words of the Silhouettes, “Get a blog. Sha na na na, sha na na na na.”
Boing Boing has a few more details.

Hay, another character for your valid-in-URLs list! ;-)
Simon,
I checked that fix into CVS ages ago. It's just waiting for ops to deploy.
Honest.
Alan.
Their help pages seem python-driven. Wonder what flavor they're using (CGI, mod_python, etc.)?

I can't believe Jed has commented on this entry yet!
Well, I left London on Saturday night and didn't get back till Monday morning, and what with jet-lag and seeing the family I've missed terribly, I've had no time or inclination for getting on the computer!
Anyhow, I still don't think I'll be taking the bait ... much as I love computing, I hate computers - nasty, cramped, annoying things that never quite work as advertised, massive time sinks - and so I am hesitant to committing to any activity that demands their usage.
So, for the moment I am going to have to be content being web-master of my son's football team, and otherwise living my bloglife vicariously by commenting when waiting for builds etc. ;-)
But thanks mate, I'll give it a look...
How much money did they spend on that? And they didn't even bother to PROOFREAD it!?!?!!! (Hint: "Let's" is a contraction for "Let us". It is not a synonym for "allows".)
Contrary to popular belief it is growing on me.. the new Blogger that is..
But I think HaloScan is very safe at the moment, probably more so in the future as well.
